Stroup and I have been married so long we rarely give each other presents. So I was surprised to come home one day recently and find a gift waiting for me in the driveway.

Q: It’s been over a year since we started planning our dream bathroom, and we have all the fixtures picked out except for the sinks. We’d like to choose the material, then look at style. Recently a friend suggested glass for our sinks. We have never considered glass sinks. Are they strong enough? My wife is afraid of the glass breaking. Also, what styles are available for glass sinks? We would like to explore this option, and we value your opinion. — Phil, Ohio
